Making the Most of My Mary Kay Journey

Just another WordPress.com weblog

So this is why….. February 18, 2007

Filed under: Mary Kay — turningpink @ 10:53 pm

I am starting this blog because I am a brand new Mary Kay consultant. I just started my business in January, and I am still trying to work this whole thing out. I type faster than I write, and I am one of those people that can see things more clearly when it is all in black and white, so I decided to create a blog. I wanted to make it public because I would love input from other consultants that have “been there / done that” or from other newbies like myself.

I am aware that there are anti-MK blogs around, and I refuse to let their negativity bring me down. I realize that my ultimate success or failure in this business rests squarely on my shoulders. I am of the belief that I can make an impact on people’s lives in a positive way, and I think this is a good way for me to do that. I have heard many of the complaints of former and current consultants. I believe that every one of us has the power to influence change. I am keeping my eyes clearly focused on my goals, and believe that I will reach them as long as I stick to what I believe in.

If anyone has any questions or suggestions for me or this blog, please let me know. I don’t have any experience in this whole blog thing, so please be patient with me as I work out the kinks.

you are a perfect example of someone who saw the good and the bad and decided to go ahead and try this business for what YOU could make of it. Congratulations on making your own decisions and not buying into the negative hype. Anti MK are only a small percentage of this big MK pie, so dont let it get you down. You will have disappointments but many more successes, for one cant exist without the other, but keep on selling and sharing..you will make it. GOD Bless You

Thanks! I am working hard, and I know that it WILL pay off! I am still trying to figure out a lot of things, but I know that a lot of it will come with time.

I wish you all the best in your business. Great job making a decision to not let anyone negative stop you. You are very smart to know that you can learn as you go. That is what we do in other jobs right?

Thats awesome that you are in Mary Kay.My mom supported us on her MK business for 16 years and it was truly a blessing!Congrats to you.

Hi MKRules and Ashley! Thanks for stopping by.

MKR – Yes, we do learn as we go in other jobs. I’ve never had one that worked any other way. For the life of me I can’t figure out why anyone thinks MK should be any different. Of course, I also can’t figure out why people think this is some sort of get rich quick scheme. It amazes me when I read “I did this for 6 months and didn’t make any money.” My mother always said most new businesses aren’t expected to make any real profit for the first five years. Of course, what does she know? She only owned 2 businesses, and supported our family for quite some time selling Home Interiors. LOL!

Ashley – I’m so happy that you see it as a blessing that your mom was able to support you with her MK business. I’m sure she is an inspiration to you. I’d be willing to bet that she actually WORKED her business, too!

Yes she did work her business very hard!Being that our family has 6 children she worked around our schedules as much as possible. She is definetly an inspiration to me.I have been toying around with starting a MK business myself.

Glad I stumbled upon your blog ! Good luck with your new MK business ! Don’t let anyone bring you down !Thought I’d share a copy of the comment I just posted on the Pink Truth site:

Wow. I’ve never seen such negativity ! It is very obvious all these ladies seething over MK , have deeper issues to resolve… and apparently will find something to complain about no matter what the situation is in their lives, MK or otherwise.
I’ve been a consultant for 4 years, and have not been battered self-esteem -wise, or in any other manner. My Director is not pushy, and my unit members are not fake ,and I am no brainwashed robot, I like what I do, and make consistently good money.
As with anything in life, it is truly what you make it. If MK is not for you, then so be it. But to actually take the time to make a website, and to continuously post rants is so utterly ridiculous and time wasting.
This is the first and last time I will waste 10 minutes of my own time , ( which I only did out of curiousity when a link popped up on another site.).
Perhaps if the ladies venting would channel their energy elsewhere in a positive way they would find some pleasure in life. But, then again, there are those who love playing the victim . As the saying goes, ” misery loves company “… Regardless of what they do for a living, MK or otherwise, I would not choose to spend time with such pessimists, who seem to jump at the chance to drag others down. Life is too short to gossip and complain. Yes, there are indeed many successful women in MK, and others carreers, because they worked hard. No magic wand. The envy and jealousy on this site is so transparent.
If you are not happy today, you will never find satisfaction in life. There will always be those who choose to remain miserable.Strange but true.

    Sherry,

Thank you for sharing! I haven’t attempted to post anything to PT for several reasons, but the main one is that it simply won’t make any difference. Those women claim we are in the “pink fog” but can’t get past their hatred to see that there are women out there that truly love this business and wouldn’t dream of giving it up because it actually works FOR THEM! Sadly, I don’t think anything can bring some of them out of their “black fog” of hatred. I can’t imagine living my life that way. Live and let live. If there are women that don’t enjoy MK, then they don’t have to do it. It really is that simple.
